April Fool's Day 2005

From GFWiki

April 1, 2005, brought about the Gamingforce Interactive Forum, which was all of the regular forums condensed as subforums under one main one with the regular forums hidden away from view, as well as a slightly modified forum banner. The official story regarding it was that the forums had crashed and that this is what was going to form the basis for a new Gamingforce.

In this new forum, all rules were abandoned. Threads such as "lol" and ":hot:" assaulted user's eyes in a spree of numerous 0 reply threads.

The Ban Spree

Over the course of Gamingforce Interactive Forum, quite a few people became incredibly spammy, much worse than they otherwise would normally be. The staff started to ban members for what started out as plausible reasons, but quickly degenerated into what appeared to be blatant abuse of power. Unbeknownst to quite a few people was that all of these bans were intended to be fake bans, just for fun's sake. Those who were banned got to watch on as those who were left reacted to the newfound loss of around 20 members, but also got to enjoy getting away with behavior otherwise not tolerated.

Afterwards, however, Chris's ban was upheld due to a long string of drama and complaints revolving around him and the fact that he really only got worse during April Fool's Day. Technically, this could be said about any other poster during this time who got banned, though.

The duplicate forums have since been archived, and are now accessible through an inconspicuous link at the bottom of the forum index.

the_hulk

Easily the highlight of April fools day was a particular staff member who joined in the fun by creating a new account. the_hulk was a parody of a real GFF member who existed under a similar name and was later banned, leaving the immortal words in the chat "FUCK GOTTA BOUNCE!" His memory lives on in his journal.
