Created on Jul 20, 2004 by bobo, the Chillout Lounge was described as "an easy going conversational forum, where flaming, negative attitudes and negative discussions are not allowed." The first thread created in the forum, Bobo's forum description thread, imparted the notion that the forum was intended to be like "the sewers without the drama," or something to that effect. (He also added a note that he was tired of searching through sewers threads, looking for actual discussion, finding little other than drama/penises.)

It was closed on Mar 3, 2005 after a long-overdue realization that the Chillout Lounge was a breeding ground for spam (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45750), and that what little amount of spam-free content remained was unimportant. Naturally, this decision was not met without resistance as the regulars at the once popular So you go and get stoned... thread propested its demise. Since Chillout Lounge bore the now legendary "~" in the forum title it was decided that in order to prevent the closing of the forum a protest rally was to be held. However, since the only people who showed any interest in keeping it open were the residents of the stoner thread and were likely too lazy and/or stoned to actually rally troops for the cause. Hence the "forum-wide rally" fizzled down to a form of "silent protest" wherein all parties involved added the "~" to the end of their usernames; some of which remained unchanged in the Gamingforce Archive Boards (http://www.gamingforce.com/gffarchive/); most notably organizer Locke Cole~ (http://www.gamingforce.com/gffarchive/member.php?u=539), Tawnee Stoner~ (http://www.gamingforce.com/gffarchive/member.php?u=819) and Encephalon~ (http://www.gamingforce.com/gffarchive/member.php?u=11428).
