Online History
Early History
Drex joined Gamingforce while looking for Final Fantasy MIDIs somewhere between February and April 2000. He stumbled into the forums at the tender age of 16, took up the name Drex Olympus, and quickly became one of the more annoying and ever-present personalities on the board. As a newbie he was confronted and flamed often by the then-named Revenge_of_Dyhalto (now Dyhalto). Early friends on the board included fantasy_sama (later Fantasy), willy_sunny, Naka, and Marcel (before he went off the deep end). Drex was an insufferable suck-up, and his straightforward and responsible demeanor combined with his ever-presence on the boards led to him being made a moderator of the new member-welcoming forum ((similar to Community Commons, but heck if I can remember what it was called or when it went up)) upons its creation by bobo.
As a Moderator
At some point Gamingforce didn't completely sate Drex's online forum habit, so he joined a few other boards, including EyesOnFF (http://www.eyesonff.com/forums)(August 2000). Impressed by the power of vBulletin forums over UBB (and, admittedly, because vB moderators had the supermod option and Drex craved power still), Drex began trying to convince bobo that vBulletin was a smarter choice than waiting for the anticipated UBB release. vBulletin won out in January of 2001, and Drex dropped the "Olympus" from his username. About this time Gamingforce's popularity started picking up, and due largely (again) to the time he spent on the boards, bobo made Drex an administrator alongside Marcel (date needed). (The only other notable forum presence Drex had was at Final Fantasy: Worlds Apart (http://www.ffwa.org/forums) (joined December 2000), where he was eventually made a moderator of the Music forum for a short time.)
As an Administrator
Drex is probably the most straight-laced administrator Gamingforce has ever seen. His mission against foul language and spam was admirable but didn't last long.
At some point during his time on EyesOnFF (probably around November or December 2000), Drex invited his real-life friend Nyke (rumored to have been his girlfriend in hiding, despite their claims of being 'quasi-together,' whatever that meant) to join EyesOnFF, and subsequently invited her to Gamingforce. Fun times were had by all.
A few months after Marcel (or Silverlocke) attempted to destroy Gamingforce before disappearing, OctoberOmicron took his place as administrator. Drex and OO were polar opposites in how they ran things, but it turned out well... Mainly because at this point Drex's presence on the board was waning. Unlike all the old members OctoberOmicron had been removing from staff, he never removed Drex as his co-admin until Paikuhan later on took his place.
As Former Staff
Drex was 'last seen' leaving the world on a Mormon mission to San Jose, California. He was assigned to learn Mandarin Chinese and worked mostly with Chinese people there. He popped back in March of 2005 for a bit, but didn't latch on with the same enthusiasm as in the past. Another attempt at reintroducing himself to the board hit November 2006, and only time will tell if this bout lasts.
Drex is accredited with creating the ever popular Quotes out of Context thread. Although it must be noted that the innocent purpose originally intended for it (afterall, DREX made it) has changed over the years, rumor has it that Drex was well aware of what it would degenerate into but simply wanted to start it on a good note. This could be a bold-faced lie. He also came up with the "out of context" ([ooc]) tag and the subsequent spoiler tag used at the time, as well as the [right] tag. He also introduced many smilies to the forums, some of which are still used to this day, but many of which were lost across numerous board crashes.
Avatar History
Drex went through many avatars over the years, but when his computer was stolen (probably by UPS employees) in January 2003 and bobo's Xelarix server went down shortly thereafter, record of most of these avatars were lost to the ether (or aether, as you prefer).
