GFF Music Exposure Club

From GFWiki

Share and share alike, is how the saying goes. Birthed from an idea that Mucknuggle had after Plug 4 posted an album review of "Nujabes - Modal Soul" with a YouSendIt (http://yousendit.com) download link attached to it, the Music Exposure Club (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79718) (which was started on December 6, 2005) has already had a fruitful lifespan.

The premise is simple: If a member knows any music that they want to introduce to a wider audience, they simply upload it to a file sharing website such as YouSendIt.com, MegaUpload.com or RapidShare.de and write a review with a download link. Since it is mainly required to be a member to download any albums, the thread was placed in the My Stuff subforum. Within one day of being functional 8 albums were uploaded by various members that ranged in a colorful cornucopia of widespread genres and has been in constant nurture and growth since its inception.

A discussion thread (http://gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1600258) was also started to keep up discussion on albums and various music topics and to eliminate clutter from the actual album posting thread. Despite the many different music tastes floating around both threads, conversations are usually kept pretty civil and as of the end of October over 400 different albums had already been uploaded by an army of music-loving GFF members.

As a reminder of what started it all, the first post in the GFF Music Exposure Club still holds "e.g. Nujabes - Modal Soul," under the posting guidelines as an example of what format to similarly follow when posting the artist, album title and release date.

After the most recent massive crash, the Music Exposure Club (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191) was rebirthed by Encephalon but was closed in July of 2007 due to its massive size. A new thread was immediately opened (http://www.gamingforce.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23740), again by Encephalon and the Discussion Thread (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285), as resumed by Mucknuggle, was moved to Media Centre to provide a more visible update to the general population. Immediate, varied and prolific, contributions by such members as Iwata, knkwzrd and Moon (formerly Candle Tree), made the thread's future look very promising. As of the start of 2007 over 350 albums had been milled through the thread and many new members saw new faces expanding musical horizons for the rest of the members.
