GFRadio

From GFWiki

Gamingforce's first radio show, run by bobo himself and cohosted with OctoberOmicron. The show ran the majority of 2001 and featured such things as prank calls (most famous one being a call to FinalRob), playing a wide range of VGM and a place for Gamingforce composers (IkarusZino, Falkon2) to show off their talents. Also member interviews, Gamingforce development, etc.

Members to have also hosted, been interviewed or been called include (need help here): Aeris, FinalRob, mscbutterfly, OZZcln, Aya, IkarusZino, Willy Sunny, Secret Squirrel, DarkPaladin, Tifa, San and julia.

  • The aftermath of an interview with Aeris led to the glorious event of Cain leaving staff, mostly because he knew he was about to be canned anyway.
  • Not planning ahead, bobo sometimes didn't know the actual name (such as OO and DarkPaladin) of the members he called, therefore asking their parents/roommates for them by their board handle.
  • The San interview also included her mother. To San's dismay, her mother got more attention.
  • XXX was once invited to cohost as well. In this call he did nothing but argue with OctoberOmicron and, when Willy was called, mock him. The stress and irritation caused by this episode is probably the main reason no more shows were held.

Note: XXX is not the actual person's name, he wasn't even a Gamingforce member. Just some dumb ass friend of bobo's through his Quake clan.

GFRadio 2

The revival of GFRadio was the brainchild of Devo and received its official debut on January 27, 2007. The last post in the thread was on February 3, 2007, and Devo's departure from GFF most likely spelled the end of this incarnation. The shows were hosted from the host's own computer via a streaming program and were relayed courtesy of Foxyshadis's employment to increase listenership. The format of each show changed daily:

  • Sunday: Indie/World/Jazz/Metal
  • Monday: Mishmash (random genres)
  • Tuesday: VGM
  • Wednesday: Rock
  • Thursday: Soundtracks
  • Friday: Classical
  • Saturday: Electronica

There were two regular hosts for this version of GFRadio:

  • Devo - hosted Saturday through Thursday starting around 8:00 PM EST
  • Dullenplain - hosted Friday starting around 10:00 PM EST and filled in for Devo on other days when asked to

A typical show consisted of a preset playlist from the host and/or submitted by other members along with announcements and shoutouts at regular intervals. Occasionally, a session amongst various members via Skype was broadcast, often with hilarious results.
