Gamingforce Composing Competition

From GFWiki

Initially suggested by Sepharite, the first Gamingforce Composing Competition was started by Face in December 2003 in The Concert Hall. Participants were to compose and submit a piece of music which reflected a chosen theme, usually a picture. Judging was initially done by a panel of judges, but later incarnations utilize three criteria: popular vote, critical judging, and peer review.

Held during the winter of 2003, the first competition challenged participants to craft a piece of music which reflected the mood of Lake Bled during the winter. A total of 17 submissions were received, and OmNiMog717, now known as Magatsu, took top honors with his composition, "Snow in the City". Killer Pineapple, and Russell Cox, rounded up the winners with "Winter Soaring" and "Celebration of Trials and Tribulations", respectively.

Third Gamingforce Composition Competition

The 2007 competition is hosted by Traumatized Rat and is currently ongoing. The submission deadline is March 10, 2007. Unlike the previous two competitions, there is no visual theme. Instead, the stipulation is that the composition should be a chamber work (that is between 2 to 8 performers, within reason). However, there is a "theme" of Dreams to help inspire our competitors that is up to them whether or not to follow.
