Gamingforce RGB Chain
From GFWiki
A community avatar/signature chain themed after RGB (red, green, blue) color values, started in March 2006 barely a week after GFF was revived.

Origin
This idea took its roots from a joke played by Capo (formerly Capo Crimini) in the Avatars and Signatures Requests thread (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111) on SnaKKer_2006, in which SnaKKer asked for an Signature/Avatar theme based on "Black", a popular video game (see this post (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9116#post9116) to see the joke in its original context). On March 5th, Capo took this joke theme for his own, adding #000000 as his Title (#000000 is the Hexadecimal code for the color "Black"), then created a thread to try and spawn a monochrome theme and have a little fun. The requirements were that your avatar and signature were to consist solely of one specific color, had to be uniform size to his, and include the Hex code of your chosen color as your usertitle.
The response was both unexpected and enormous.
Within ten minutes, Capo, Scarletdeath, Eleo, Crash Landon, Benjamin, and Ultima had signed up, and numbers continued to add up as members as diverse as Sassafrass, Sing, Plarom and Seris, and the themes eventually went from standard to an imaginary race to pick the coolest colors or themes. Admiral Amara first took white (#FFFFFF), in contrast to Capo's black, Niekon chose the Hex that represented his birthday (#072972), but the thread turned to legend when Chaotic Lullaby chose #14194E - the color of the boxes you post in - making her unaltered posts literally unreadable. People then pushed for the every member to use their chosen color as their text color in posts, and suggested bolding their text to make it easier to read. This also prompted Echolyn to take #343868 as their theme, the color of Quote boxes. The thread roared to life, with members sometimes overlapping posts within a single minute, and people going to sleep at night in their time zone and waking to find whole pages added.
Memorable Events
Diss shocked the entire community by choosing Plaid... and then posting in his color (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14550#post14550). Infernal Monkey suggested a new method (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14611#post14611) for Diss' posts, which was put in practice.
This post (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15419#post15419) and onwards for at least the rest of the page makes use of this method, with hilarious results. Diss eventually, as advised by Capo, adopted "#F1AN3L" as his Title, an approximation of Hex code that spells "FLANEL" in a variant of "L33T".
AcerBandit, not to be outdone, chose three colors and created a rapidly flashing avatar and signature, as well as typeface, that threatened to cause seizures... but not as much as the result of clicking on his signature. His other contribution was creating an easier method of posting for Diss, involving Photoshopping letters. Here (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/community-commons/990-fancy-new-sig-avatar-chain-gff-rgb-month-12.html#post16023) is the original suggestion, which is still in use.
Confusion struck some users, one of whom decided to post his concerns. Even for those who weren't involved in the fad, it was agreed upon that this post is hilarious. (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1241)
Drama
Drama ensued with the entrance of a handful of members. Kolba was the first to stir up drama, entering and claiming that we ruined his idea (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15742#post15742).
Geese, one of the most recent quick-to-get-banned idiots, also tried his hand (http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15867#post15867) at drama, which was what eventually lead to his being banned before even reaching level 2.
Sir VG also tried to stir things up, but was shot down not once, but twice by Lord Styphon.
Running Jokes and Thread Life
Running jokes include Acer's Signature, the idea of Capo and Amara as a kind of Superman/Batman team, and Brent's posting style. Some have labeled this "GFF seizure week" based on Acer's participation. Members have declared March to be GFF RGB Month, referencing the Hexadecimal system required to create the themes, and most members intend to keep their theme through and possibly beyond the month of March.
The thread continues to acrue members and chug along, with no real signs of stopping. The total of the most recent check (as of March 9, 12:14 pm EST) came out to 75 participating memebers, though some (such as Sassafrass) have dropped out already. A count taken by Mersenne on March 21, at 8:14 am EST, revealed that "there are now 81 cult members."
After becoming one of the most successful and most talked-about threads, the RGB Month thread was closed at precisely 12:00am, April 1st by Capo. Many, as of April 4th, have already moved on to once again take up individual themes, perhaps participating in other, future themed weeks or months.
