Gamingforce Talk Radio

From GFWiki

This the latest incarnation of GFF Radio hosted by nuttyturnip. The program differs from previous versions in that members are encouraged to call in and discuss various topics, as opposed to music being played. The show airs weekly on Wednesday nights, 10-11pm EST.

History

The first show aired on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:30pm and garnered little interest due to its unfortunate timeslot. RockgamerXIII, Tails, Dullenplain, and Tritoch were the only callers. Although the turnout was low, the recording of the broadcast attracted enough interest for nutty to attempt another show. The second show aired on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 10pm, and shows have aired weekly at the same time since then.

How It Works

Nuttyturnip uses BlogTalkRadio (http://www.blogtalkradio) to host the show. Nutty dials into a number with his cellphone, and he has access to a switchboard on his computer, from which he can play sound effects and toggle callers on/off air. Callers can either dial a number in New York or use VoIP (though with poor results) to talk on air; there is no charge. Nutty usually has a list of topics to keep the conversation flowing, but generally anything goes on-air. Shows are allotted one hour of air time. At the end of the hour, the show stops streaming live, but recording of the callers continue (generally refered to as the "aftershow"). Several minutes after the show ends, the recording is available for download.

Notable Segments

  • Fresh Frank's drunken conversation with Bisha on Show #3, in which he refered to the UK as "England-land", inspired a weekly recorded segment by Omagnus Prime. The "England-Land Word of the Week" provides a comical definition of words that may be unfamiliar to non-UK listeners, often with an insult aimed at Colonel Skills.
  • Show #6 aired during the GFF NE Meet 2008. The result was quite a bit of chaos, but also the most callers featured in a show to date (18).
