'**** NINE THOUSAND!? --Tails 17:23, 8 Nov 2006 (PST)

IT'S OVER NINE-THOUUUSAAAAND! --StarmanDX 14:57, 8 Nov 2006 (PST)

I've recategorized members that have useless/unpronounced symbols surrounding their usernames (i.e. "*AkirA*" is categorized as "AkirA" and "--==N-N-T-B==--" is categorized as "N-N-T-B"). Names like "^-^" will stay as is, because the symbols form an image and are important to the username. If you wish to have this changed back, that's fine.

I also used a numbering scheme for specifying the categorization order for "*" items (i.e. the subcategories on the Members and Forums categories).

--Kaleb.G 16:38, 3 Nov 2005 (PST)

Kaleb has yet to put up his new entry, and I was busy with university deadlines over the weekend, so I'll hold it off until he finishes it. --Bigblah 08:35, 24 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Ah, good shit BB. So whats with the logo contest? When do we vote and see the results? --Black Hat 08:08, 24 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Uh, I AM using Dreamhost. At a discounted price too, since I signed up through a SomethingAwful promotion. I don't need the more expensive plans, since 120GB of monthly bandwidth is certainly more than enough (with current activity, monthly GFWiki bandwidth consumption is estimated to be 6-10GB). --Bigblah 08:08, 20 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Edited with Horizontal Lines ( button_hr.png ). Looks clearer, but rollback at will ~ --Niki 07:56, 20 Oct 2005 (PDT)

You know BigBlah, Dreamhost has a hosting package for $10.00/month that is stable, surpasses the current stats, and everything + a domain name. GFWiki.com anyone? Id be willing to donate a few bucks. --Black Hat 07:51, 20 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Looks like the site was down for 45 minutes or so due to some problem contacting the MySQL server. I've backed up the database, just in case. --Bigblah 11:31, 18 Oct 2005 (PDT)

You really only need to link a person's name or some other article once, the first time it shows up in the article. You don't need to link every instance of it in the article. For example, the GFF Survivor page is kind of excessively linked. --Sakabadger 02:51, 18 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Set $wgEnableSorbs = false; in LocalSettings.php, to circumvent the IP blocking experienced by Luceid and Tawnee Stoner. --Bigblah 17:04, 17 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Most of the member articles are based off falkon2, though many end up with less sections and a simpler structure. If you have an idea for a better template feel free to propose it. For user: pages anything goes, you can redirect it to your member article if you want. --Bigblah 09:22, 16 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Heh, oops on UserBlueMikey. I saw it mentioned that there was a template for the user pages, anything in particular needed to be followed yet? --BlueMikey 08:54, 16 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Oops, I forgot that you didn't have deletion privileges. Added you to sysop list, go wild! --Bigblah 21:34, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

DELETE AT WILL - Mercarios
--Bigblah 19:26, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Requesting for deletion User Page Test and UserBlueMikey. --Kaleb.G 19:18, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

That sounds good. Thanks for the clarification. =) --Kaleb.G 06:30, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Regarding your earlier query about the differences between Talk:Membername and User_talk:Membername, I figure it's rather simple -- Talk: is for discussing the member article, while User_talk: is for sending messages like a PM system (any new edits to that page will result in a "you have new messages" notice for the user). --Bigblah 06:29, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

SUCCESS --Bigblah 05:07, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Heh, I was thinking about doing a black border, but I figured nobody would want to use the other crappy skins ;). Anyway, I can try to fix it in PS. Edit: That should do it. Refresh and use the image posted below as Redirect.png --Kaleb.G 05:01, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Don't worry about it, I already edited it in Photoshop (added a black border so it'd work on white backgrounds, and saved it as PNG-8). Check it out. Edit: Apparently I (or Photoshop) suck at this. --Bigblah 04:56, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

I just uploaded a new version of Redirect.png I forgot about IE and transparent PNG-24, so I made a semi-transparent PNG-8; use that one instead. Just make sure to refresh to clear the cache. --Kaleb.G 04:54, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

I'm on it, thanks :) --Bigblah 04:47, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

A special present from me to you. A redesigned redirect image: Image:redirect.png --Kaleb.G 04:45, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Hey people. I finally created my member page but its not in 3rd person. I dont know what you guys think and want to say in it. Right now its all first person. Id like some help with this page if you guys have some time. Please and thanks! Also, a GFWiki logo would be great! Needs to have the same font/logo as GFF I think. --Black Hat 02:01, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

I was planning to get submissions in the GFF thread, but since it's down, maybe we could do it in this wiki instead. --Bigblah 02:00, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Okay. Also, is anybody working on a logo for GFWiki? I could possibly do something. --Kaleb.G 01:55, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Absolutely nothing. --Bigblah 01:54, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

What do you suggest we do about the difference between "Talk:" and "Usertalk:"? --Kaleb.G 01:47, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

If you want it to be less "silly", I can send you index.php, and you can code in a check for the User: namespace that renders a page read-only to everyone except the user it is intended for. Edit: Of course, this renders stuff like autographs (see Pom's userpage) impossible... --Bigblah 01:44, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

The part that doesn't make sense isn't necessarily that there are two pages that have an incredibly high possibility of being 99% redundant, and, thus, out of sync (see Garr and User:Garr), but that if you want to have one page where people contribute to a person's information (/name) and one that the user himself is supposed to set up and design and present what they want to the world (/User:name), then there is no point to the latter being publically editable. This is where the redundantness and sillyness comes in. --BlueMikey 01:37, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Sounds good, I'll go modify it now --Bigblah 01:24, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

How about modifying the member template so that the name placed above the avatar/portrait on each member article becomes a link to their user page? It would be much like how it is done on the forums. --Kaleb.G 01:05, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Well, since everyone started on their articles rather than their user pages, it's now the other way around. I'll just make another clarification on the front page to clear this up. --Bigblah 00:31, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

I think if users would just remove all info on their user page that is already present on the member page, and then just add a link to the member page, it would cut down on duplicate info as well as reduce confusion. --Kaleb.G 00:26, 15 Oct 2005 (PDT)

That's the point, BM. One article for public editing, and one copy for your own retention, friends list, autographs, etc. --Bigblah 22:16, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Guys, this doesn't work. The only reason why Garr still shows up in is because Garr was not properly moved to User:Garr. There's no redirect on the page, but there are two distinct copies. Any changes made to User:Garr would not be made to Garr, so when someone clicked on Garr from, they would get the old copy at Garr and not the new copy at User:Garr, I think. --BlueMikey 22:13, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Also, "Boardtop" moved to "Forum Banners" (not a category). --Bigblah

No need to apologize. Also, if you think a category is worth implementing, go ahead and make it. Just announce it in here, or even better, in #gfwiki chat. --Bigblah 18:02, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Requesting a "Threads" category for documenting special threads, such as QooC (which isn't an IRC Channel itself). --Kaleb.G 17:31, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Sorry. I was just trying to help. I knew the User pages would have personal stuff eventually, but redirects seemed like a good idea until that time. --Kaleb.G 16:42, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Right now some of the member pages are self-written. It's not disallowed or anything, but other people are encouraged to edit them. The more personal stuff like friends lists and so on should be copied over to their own User: namespace (which should not be added to the Members category). --Bigblah 15:32, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

I think it's a good idea to add a redirect in your "User:" page to your standard member page (at least until you decide to use the "User:" page for a special purpose). Use "#REDIRECT [[Whatever Your Username Is]]" as the sole text in the "User:" page to do this. --Kaleb.G 15:17, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Rearranged the sequence, please put your new lines at the top now. Also, it's a sequence of four tildes, not four dashes (Black Hat). --Bigblah 15:10, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

What the hell? No category for gaming? ----Black Hat

I think we might want to start from the bottom up, or else new comments will be buried under the first ones. --Talbain 13:38, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

YEAH WELL it's just an alternative. --Sakabadger 23:25, 13 Oct 2005 (PDT)

You don't have to do that anymore, though. >_> Mo0 23:23, 13 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Just so everyone knows, to create a new page you simply go to gfw.condign/org/wiki/pagename, where you substitute "pagename" with whatever topic you intend to write about. If you want to talk about GamingVoid, it'd be .../wiki/GamingVoid. Yay! --Sakabadger 23:23, 13 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Made $wgGoToEdit = true in DefaultSettings.php: the 'Go' button in search now takes you straight to the edit page if the article doesn't exist. --Bigblah 21:58, 13 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Where the fuck is the new page button? Mo0 19:55, 13 Oct 2005 (PDT)

This is a (very short) sample discussion.

And this, apparently, is the signature timestamp: --Sakabadger 06:34, 13 Oct 2005 (PDT)
