Award formerly known as the 'Kindest Member' award. Renamed in 2007 as part of the new initiative.

"You can say what you like...well, actually you can't. See, as much as you'd like to be a cold cynic, it's hard to deny that some people are genuinely nice and don't deserve to be ridiculed. So rare is that delicate flower that manages to not only endure the flaming idiocy of others, but actually thrive, that they must truly be a special breed in order to survive such inhospitable conditions.

"Some people are just lovely aren't they? Every action must have an equal and opposite reaction according to a rather clever Brit and in GFF terms, this means for every master flame warrior, there must somewhere be a member who is friendliness personified.

The winner of this award will be the member who has displayed kindness beyond the call of duty in the past year. Maybe it will be someone who offers helpful advice and an e-shoulder to cry on in TQP. It could just as well be someone who goes out of their way to solve people's technical problems without calling them an idiot for not using firefox. Maybe you feel there's a member who always helps out the new members or defends the flamebait when they get out of their depth in the Sewers and always does so with a friendly smiley?

There is a member here somewhere who in the last year has time and again shown a streak of rampant loverism and this award is for them. Be nice." -- Lord Styphon

"Let's face it, there's a lot of aresholes here at GFF. When it comes to being mean, some of our members could probably write a pretty decent manual and then refuse to show it to anyone, keeping the secrets for their own mean spirited purposes.

Despite this however and surprisingly to some, we have a special section of the boards reserved for quiet reflection and advice, The Quiet Place. Even in this bastion of peace, there are those of us who favor a brand of tough love over any sort of mollycoddling but this is not always the case.

There are some among us who are veritable e-saints, who are always happy to lend an ear to a troubled soul and for whom helpful advice is never far from their lips, er... fingers, you know what I mean. There are some seriously kind people here and you'll probably find most of them in The Quiet Place. This award is to recognize who in your eyes is GFF's kindest member or at least, has been through this year." -- Shin
