tell off - To rebuke severely

told (tōld) - v. Past tense and past participle of tell.

tell /tɛl/ - To inform (a person) of something.

Just what is told, you ask? It is the common response given by those who witness an event we like to call "telling off." When you kindly inform someone of something, such as their inherent gayness, idiocy, incompetence or just telling them to leave, and you do it right; that person is then known as having been "told" proper. If you see such an event, it is your duty to inform the tell-ee that they have been TOLD.
