A good place to start

The Welcome Welcome forum was designed as a place where a new member can say hi, thereby losing their posting cherry without incurring the wrath of too many grouchy oldbies. Although a few new members fail to find the Welcome forum at first, the advice offered by many people here has led to some potentially otherwise crappy members turning out ok.

No postcount

Postcount is disabled in Welcome Welcome in order to prevent every member replying to every thread with some banal welcoming comment, simply to boost his or her postcount. This has led to the endless question "What the fuck does level:INF? mean?". If you post in a zero postcount forum, your current level, based on an equation that divides by your current postcount will be infinite. Post somewhere else and you'll move to level 1.

Hey there.

Welcome Welcome has its own regulars and in-jokes. Shin posts in almost every thread and over the years, Duo Maxwell, Sassafrass, Denicalis, Qwarky, Musharraf, Lav and many others have done their fair share of Welcoming. One perennial in-joke was started by NYRSkate who posted the simple phrase "Hey there." after every other post in a three page Welcome thread.

Welcome threads tend to get derailed more easily than threads in any other forum except the Sewers, mainly due to the zero postcount rule. To have your Welcome thread split off to the Sewers is generally a sign of a short GFF career...
