History

Origins

The Xelium Highguard was a GFF World of Warcraft (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com) Alliance guild created on the Laughing Skull server in the early days of the game. It was founded by Wild Violence with other pioneers being Guru, nwzinc, BlueMikey, Elmoogle, Mo0 and Ronz. Over time, the guild quickly grew through the recruitment of non-Gamingforce members. Some felt that this interfered with the group's sense of community, since many guild members were unaware of the existence of GFF.

Drama

Drama gripped the group as many of the founding members began to approach the level cap. Arguments began to rise over raiding arrangements and accusations of "ninja-looting", that being somebody rolling to take an item that binds to a character after being picked up when they have not been given permission by the raid leader. Some founding members began to defect, the most notable being Guru and Wild Violence, who was the Guild Leader at the time. nwzinc's character 'Blink' has took up the task of commanding the Highguard.

Current

While many GFF regulars still play World of Warcraft, very few are still in the original guild. Many have rolled characters on different servers or simply chosen to play with their own group of friends on Laughing Skull. As for the guild itself, after multiple group departures due to various spats of drama, Xelium Highguard has a mere fraction of the members that it used to, and nwzinc and Belgara may be the only GFF members remaining in the guild. Due to the above mentioned fallout and many remaining members simply not having enough time to form a coherent group, the Highguard has been transformed into an "alt" guild, meaning that only secondary less important characters of members are a part of it. The main members of the Highguard were absorbed into The Regulators, a popular end game guild on the server.

Other Games

Occasionally, the name Xelium Highguard is recycled and used as a clan or group name on other games that a bunch of GFFers get together and play. For example, there is a Xelium Highguard group in the Xbox 360 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360) game Chromehounds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromehounds).
